King Leonard Mudbeard adopted Baby Red after an unnamed incident. The mission to save the eggs became another objective: Save Red.

The Fancy Queen, my crossover parody of The Lion King (1994)

Synopsis: Nancy Clancy from Fancy Nancy searches for her destiny in this character recasting adaptation of a classic Disney tale, The Lion King.

When a young princess named Nancy (Nancy Clancy) is born and destined to become the next ruler, her mother, the Queen (Claire Clancy), introduces her to the beautiful kingdom she will one day rule. But when the Queen is killed unexpectedly, Nancy blames herself and is forced to run away from home.

The kingdom fell into the hands of Lady Gothel (Mother Gothel), who tricked Nancy into exile, along with her cohorts, the Gross Sisters and an entire army of green-colored pigs, led by Leonardo, aka King Mudbeard.

Time passed as Nancy finds herself adjusting to her new home in paradise with Louie, Miriam, Michelangelo and other outcasts.

But when the future of the kingdom at stake, Nancy, now fully grown up (Lunafreya Nox Fleuret from Final Fantasy XV) and along with her sister, Jojo; her sweetheart, Prince Ventus; her newfound friends, Louie, Michelangelo, and Miriam, must gain the courage to return home and set things right.

Red: *holds egg* I think it’s a dud... Leonard: *scoffs* You birds are so simple. We, Pigs, have TECHNOLOGY!

Summary: With an injured leg, Red fails to climb out of the rubble in time, and is presumed dead.  The birds escape Piggy Island, unknowingly leaving him, and the blue egg, behind.  King Mudbeard isn’t about to let his nemesis foil his plans again, and eagerly whisks the new hatchlings and their ‘mama’ away to the castle.  (main fic is now complete)

Chapter 1: The Abandoned Ones

The sound of hatchlings, chirping faintly, pulled Red from the darkness.  Forcing his eyes open, he shoved at the wooden boards covering his body until they fell to the side.  With one arm still wound protectively around the blue egg, the small bird attempted to lift himself from the hole he’d been thrown into.

A cry of pain burst from his throat as one of his legs refused to budge.  He could feel it burning from where it was pinned beneath yet another pile of rubble.   “Okay, okay.  Just breathe, Red.  Just breathe.” Short puffs of breath whistled from his beak as he hefted the egg in his arms out of the hole, and onto the nearest flat-ish surface.  No, it was only half an egg, Red realized, his face contorting in horror.

“Mama!”

“Mama!”

“Mama!”

Three tiny blue heads popped up from the bottom of the eggshell, chirping at him pleasantly.

“You’re alive,” Red whispered, feeling his heart soften at the sight of those precious little birds.  He’d done it.  He had saved them!

“Well now, what do we have here?”

“No, no, no,”  Red whispered to himself, tugging the eggshell as close to his body as he could, attempting to protect the little ones from the green, egg-gobbling nutcase who was standing behind him.

“Daddy!” three voices chimed in unison.

“No, not your daddy.  He is a bad pig.  A very bad pig,” the crimson bird grunted, giving his trapped leg a desperate yank.  That was a bad idea; a horribly bad idea, Red realized, as his eyes began to cloud over from the sudden rush of pain.

“Looks like someone is in need of a rescue party,” King Mudbeard stated, stepping in front of the trapped bird.  The pig leaned down until he was just a breath away from Red’s ear.  “Too bad the other birds left you behind,” he purred.

The last thing Red saw was the smug grin on the king’s face before the darkness swept over him.
